It is with regret that we advise of the cancellation of the 2025 Australian WPGA Championship, along with all associated events and programs including the Festival of Golf, due to the developing and potentially dangerous weather conditions affecting Southeast Queensland.
This decision was not made lightly, and we share in the disappointment caused by this major weather event. The safety of our members, competitors, staff, and the broader community is of the utmost importance, and we appreciate your understanding as the PGA, Queensland Government, Mulpha, and the Club take these necessary precautions.
The team has been busy preparing the golf courses and the Clubhouse for the expected weather from Cyclone Alfred. This has included sandbagging doors, moving golf carts to safe areas, removing all items from the golf course, and more. We thank them for their dedication and hard work to prepare as best we can.
Due to the developing impact of this major weather event, we have extended the closure of our Clubhouse, golf courses, and practice facilities until Sunday 9 March. We hope to provide an update to members regarding expected opening dates via email over the weekend, as well as on the Club website. This will be subject to our team having access to the appropriate infrastructure enabling us to communicate with members.
Please note that, unfortunately, the Mediterranean Sunday Night Roast scheduled for Sunday 9 March has been cancelled, and we will promptly contact members who have reservations. When we have the opportunity to assess any damage or clean-up requirements, we will communicate our plans with our members and graciously accept assistance from those who would like to help. We seek your patience with regards to this, and we will carefully consider our requirements and plan accordingly prior to reaching out to members. The safety of our members, guests, and staff remains our top priority, and we appreciate your understanding.
Due to the developing impact of Cyclone Alfred, we are extending the closure of our Clubhouse.
For your safety, both golf courses will be closed from Wednesday 5 March 2025.
We encourage all members to follow official weather warnings and safety advice issued by the Queensland Government. From all of the team, please stay safe with your families during this time. Our thoughts are with everyone affected, and we look forward to welcoming you back once it is safe to do so.
For urgent enquiries, we are best reached via email to info@scgcc.com.au or you can leave a message for us on 07 5699 9000.
