The Men’s Super Senior Pennant team have won back-to-back titles this week by defeating Emerald Lakes Golf Club in the final of the Gold Coast District Competition held at Links Hope Island on Monday 30 September 2024.
The team went undefeated this season, securing the final 4.5 to 1.5 in an outstanding effort. Tim Rankine and Chris Lecky set the tone with commanding 5 to 4 wins, and Frank Vrachas’ chip-in on 17 almost guaranteed the victory, with Chris Lowe closing it out.
While the win was a collective team effort a special recognition goes to Tim Rankine, who played in all seven matches, securing a perfect 100% win record. Others also remained unbeaten, with plenty of stories to tell.
The team on the day, pictured below, included Chris Lowe, Dave Francis, Frank Vrachas, David Bacon, Nick Mullings, Tim Rankine, Chris Lecky, and Alan Ashman. Additional squad members who contributed to the season’s success were Peter Hawley, Ian Mathieson, Tim Stirling, David Vosloo, and Ian Faber.
The support from those not playing was fantastic and the encouragement shown by everyone who came to watch the final was much appreciated.
Well done to the Super Senior men, a great achievement.
