Coaching Tip with Steve Darmody – Turn, Don’t Sway

A great backswing is a turning motion holding your position in relation to the ball. Maintaining this connection ensures that your swing remains centred, allowing for better control and accuracy.

An example of ‘lateral drift’ can be seen on the left, which ruins your timing. This drift causes instability and disrupts your swing rhythm.

The right images show a proper turn, staying centred with the ball. This stability ensures better timing and a more efficient energy transfer through impact. The comparison highlights the importance of staying centred for a consistent and powerful swing.
