One of the next key checkpoints in a golf swing is the top of the backswing.
Drill:
Assuming a neutral grip, swing the arms and club back to waist-high
We are looking for a ‘flat left wrist’ which will leave the clubface pointing slightly down
Continue this to the top of the backswing while maintaining a flat left wrist
This clubface alignment will make it much easier to square up or close the clubface through impact, to straighten out your shots or hit that desirable draw.
This difference can be seen in the below pictures.
The left image has an open clubface, as seen in the cupped left wrist. Instead, golfers should aim to mimic the image on the right, which has a square or more closed clubface, as seen by the flat left wrist.
