Coaching Tip with Steve Darmody – Setting the Clubface for a Draw

One of the key checkpoints in a golf swing is P1 – when the shaft is waist high.

Drill:

1. Assuming a neutral grip, swing the arms and club back to waist-high
2. Aim for a ‘flat left wrist’ which will position the clubface pointing slightly down

This clubface alignment will make it much easier to square up or close the clubface through impact, helping you to straighten out your shots or achieve that desirable draw.

In the picture on the left, the clubface is square. In the picture on the right, the clubface is more open.
