Oliver’s Taranga – An afternoon with Corrina Wright Thursday 21 September 2023

Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club is thrilled to announce a special visit from Corrina Wright, representing Oliver’s Taranga Vineyards. With a remarkable 182-year heritage in grape growing, Corrina is a true wine enthusiast, hailed as a “legend in the making” by WBM Magazine and recognized by James Halliday as an integral part of a “remarkable dynasty.” She’s charting a unique path amidst the vines originally planted by her ancestors in the Seaview sub-region of McLaren Vale.

The Oliver family, spanning six generations of determined and competitive growers, alongside an equally passionate winemaker, call McLaren Vale their home. They excel in cultivating exceptional fruit on their 100-hectare ‘Taranga’ estate, producing a collection of meticulously crafted, small-batch wines that eloquently reflect both the grape variety and vintage. These wines capture the essence of a specific time and place while preserving the family’s enduring 182-year connection to the land.

On Thursday 21 September, the Club is set to host an exclusive wine tasting event, complete with delectable light canapés and the opportunity to engage with Corrina. This limited-seating experience is a rare privilege, and reservations are essential. As part of our commitment to responsible alcohol service, each pour will be strictly limited to 20ml, showcasing a curated selection of seven exceptional wines from Taranga Vineyards.

For those unable to join us on Thursday 21 September, the Club is pleased to be able to offer all Members the opportunity to order the wines on offer at exclusive Club pricing. To place an order, please click here.

The Tonto – Champion of the Lone Ranger
The event takes place as a Qualifying Round, two Semi-finals and the Final.

The Qualifying Round is a normal ‘Modified Lone Ranger’. The four highest scoring teams reach the Semi-final. The Semi-finals are match play. Team 1 plays Team 4 and Team 2 plays Team 3. Each match plays the modified 18th hole. A player is randomly drawn from each team to represent the team in the semi-final, the hole is played and the winning team reaches the final. If the hole is halved the higher rated team goes into the final.

The Final is match play. The two qualifying teams select a player to represent them in the final but that player cannot have played the semi-final. The modified 18th hole is played.

If the hole is halved it is played again with new selected players representing each team. This continues until a result is reached and the winning team is declared the Tonto Champions.

A player’s handicap strokes for the hole are for the 18th hole for both men and ladies.
