On Sunday 2 March 2025, the Men’s Open Pennant team had yet another early morning start as they faced Coolangatta and Tweed Heads Golf Club at Links Hope Island.

As the morning progressed, conditions became increasingly challenging, with strengthening winds making distance judgement difficult. Many of our players fell behind early in their matches but showed great resilience to stage a comeback, finishing with three wins, three halved matches, and one loss – securing a hard-fought 4 1/2 to 2 1/2 victory against strong opposition.
A special mention goes to Ethan Leighton, who was four down but battled back to halve his match, and to Alfie Ward, who hit a stunning second shot from 238 metres to just 10 feet on the 18th hole, securing a crucial win.
