Message from Golf Course Superintendent Cameron Smith

The Golf Course Maintenance team is working hard to prepare The Pines golf course for the upcoming year. The processes they’ve undertaken, such as dethatching, scarifying, sweeping, hollow-tining, and shock-waving, are all key steps in revitalising the turf and improving the overall playing surface. Dethatching and scarifying help to remove organic material and promote healthy grass growth, while hollow-tining alleviates compaction and allows air and nutrients to penetrate the soil. Shock-waving helps with soil aeration, which is crucial for maintaining strong turf health.

Meanwhile, the finer detailing works are underway on The Palms golf course in preparation for the upcoming Australian WPGA Championship. These adjustments and improvements will ensure that the course is in top condition for the competition, with everything from tee boxes to greens being fine-tuned to meet the high standards expected during such an event.

Both courses are getting a lot of attention, and the favourable weather will certainly help to ensure these renovations are effective.
