Message from Golf Course Superintendent Cameron Smith

Happy New Year! This week, the maintenance team has been focused on rough mowing on both The Pines and The Palms golf courses.

With the weather still a bit unpredictable, the Golf Course Maintenance team is ensuring everything is ready for this Sunday’s Sanctuary Cove Open Championship.

Looking ahead, The Pines golf course will close for its annual renovations next week and will remain closed for a three-week period. During this time, all surfaces will be renovated to ensure they stay in top condition.

Update on the Golf Courses

The Golf Course Maintenance team completed the following this week on The Pines golf course:

  • Mowed the rough and outer rough
  • Trimmed and detailed the irrigation and valve boxes

On The Palms golf course, the following was completed this week:

  • Applied a granular fertiliser to the fairways and aprons

  • Replaced drainage pits

  • Mowed the rough and outer rough

  • Repaired the irrigation on hole 10

  • Repaired the hole 13 green after it was damaged by birds

Next week, the team plans to close The Pines golf course for annual renovations. All playing surfaces, including the small practice green, will be unavailable.

The Palms golf course will have the following undertaken:

  • Spray application on the bunker surrounds

  • Trimming of the irrigation and valve boxes
  • Landscaping and detailing to the gardens
