Ladies’ Closing Day – Thursday 12 December 2024

On Thursday 12 December 2024, 132 ladies teed off for the Ladies’ Closing Day. For a fun twist on hole 1, the ladies spun a wheel on the tee, which assigned a unique challenge for their first shot, such as using a pitching wedge or playing left-handed. Thank you to Jordan Hampson for assisting the ladies on this hole.

As is customary, hole 13 welcomed the ladies with champagne, as well as the opportunity to purchase a shot to the green from a professional. This year, Connor Cruice hit some spectacular shots which were greatly appreciated. Thanks to our ladies’ generosity, an incredible $1,119.20 was raised to be shared between the Animal Welfare League Queensland and DVConnect.

As every year, the ladies went to phenomenal efforts with their outfits. Determining the best-dressed team and best-decorated buggy winners is arguably the day’s hardest decision. This year, the best-decorated buggy prize was shared between two incredible teams. Sharing the title was ‘The Wine Snowoman’, consisting of Jan Herring, Wendy Nelson, Rena Indermaur, and Faye Wyer, and the team of Caz Game, Rachel Terrans, Julie Whitbread, and Christine McCartney. While any of the teams could have won best dressed, the staff were challenged to narrow it down to just three groups. Congratulations to the ‘TaylorMaids’, ‘Turkeys’ and ‘Mona Lisas’.

This year’s scores were once again close, with the day’s competition split up into two divisions. Congratulations to the division 2 winners, Louise Cole, Sue Cannon, Sam Dryland, and Kathy Stenniken, who scored 58.625 nett. The division 1 prize was awarded to the team of Lisa Hanna, Tokiko Mino, Audy White, and Jessica Wang with a fantastic score of 54.125 nett.

Finishing off the day were the raffles, for which everyone dug deep for DVConnect, raising a total of $3,320, bringing the total fundraising amount for the day to an outstanding $4,439.20. Thank you to all who donated a prize to the raffle, it’s with the support of the community that these results can be achieved.

2024 was another big year at the Club, and we must thank and acknowledge the support and devotion of the golfing ladies. Thank you to Libby Shakespeare and Jane Mullings, along with their devoted team, for their help and support.
