A great setup is essential for creating an effective backswing motion. The following drill can help achieve this.

Drill:

  • Shift your left hip towards the target and place 60% of your weight on your left foot
  • Turn around this shape to establish a solid backswing position

The impact of this adjustment is illustrated below. The images on the right show the setup before tilting the hip towards the target, while the images on the left highlight the improved setup and more efficient backswing turn.
