2025 Australian WPGA Championship on The Palms Golf Course
It is with pleasure that we announce Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club’s partnership with the PGA of Australia and Mulpha to host the inaugural Australian WPGA Championship in 2025. This event will form part of the Ladies European Tour with the winner being awarded the inaugural Karrie Webb Cup. The tournament will be held on The Palms golf course from Monday 3 March to Sunday 9 March 2025.
We have entered a three-year partnership with the PGA of Australia and Mulpha to hold this tournament. Hosting the Australian WPGA Championship aligns with our strategic plan to bring major golfing events to Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club. This event will further elevate our Club’s standing and provide memorable experiences for members, players and spectators.
Below are some key points for members:
- Facility access: During the event, spectators will not have access to The Pines golf course, Clubhouse or driving range. This is to ensure member play and Club visitation are not disrupted for members
- Member-only access: The Pines golf course will remain accessible to members only. Spectators will not have access. Some tournament players may use the Clubhouse on occasion around their tee times
- Facilities for competitors:
- the Country Club will be their primary building of use
- players will have use of The Pines driving range (Clubhouse end), chipping/putting facilities and the Clubhouse amenities
- Complimentary tickets: Members will receive complimentary tickets to attend the event with further details to be provided closer to the event
- The Palms golf course will revert to its old course rotation with the 1st hole being near the Country Club and the 9th near the members’ Clubhouse for the tournament
- Golf course renovation schedules:
- Due to the dates of this event, our course renovation schedules for The Palms and The Pines golf courses are as below:
- The Palms golf course – closed 28 October and re-opening 18 November 2024
- The Pines golf course – closed 6 January and re-opening 27 January 2025
- Volunteer opportunities: Roles such as marshalling, scoring, caddy master, driving range supervision, and more will be available
- Early access to corporate hospitality: Members will have early access to tickets for corporate hospitality
- Ladies’ golf coaching clinics: The Club is working with the PGA to secure marquee players to conduct exclusive golf clinics for our lady members in the days leading into the event
- Member functions: We are working with the PGA to have dedicated member functions at the Club with marquee players in the leadup to and during the event
- Play the professionals’ golf course: The Club will host this event for members the day after the event finishes on The Palms golf course
- Safety: Ensuring the safety and well-being of members, competitors, and spectators is of the highest priority. Stakeholders will implement and enforce comprehensive safety, traffic and animal management plans for the event.
An agreement has been entered with the PGA of Australia and Mulpha, resulting in a fee being paid to the Club to mitigate any costs with hosting the event. As members are aware, enhancement works to The Palms golf course are already underway and will continue up until the tournament commences.
The Club is committed to ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for all members during the event. Our team is working on detailed plans, and we will keep you informed with regular updates as we approach the event date.
We trust you share our enthusiasm for this exciting opportunity. We look forward to celebrating this occasion with you and making the Australian WPGA Championship at Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club a great success.
