Coaching Tip with Steve Darmody – Maintain Backswing Width

A narrow backswing can negatively impact performance and timing.

Try this drill: Maintain a steady head position (without lateral drift) and stretch your right hand away from the right shoulder at the top of the backswing. This encourages a better turn and downswing path, leading to improved impact.

In the left picture, you can see a collapsed top of the backswing, whereas in the right picture, maintaining some right arm width results in a much-improved backswing.
