On Monday 11 December the Club hosted the Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club Legends Pro-Am hosted by Adam Scott and Peter Senior. This was the first Legends Pro-Am at the Club since 2011.
The Pines golf course was in immaculate condition, and in the morning shotgun start, Steve Conran led the professionals with a solid one-under par 71.
The afternoon field was headlined by Ian Baker-Finch, Andre Stolz, Peter Lonard and Peter Senior. Conditions were difficult in the afternoon with a warm easterly wind and firm and fast greens. Sunshine Coast PGA Professional Brad Burns took a liking to the greens and fired a superb four-under par 68 to win by two shots over Andre Stolz.
Winner Brad Burns had this to say post round:
“Greens were fantastic. Running at 13 and very, very quick, it’s a fantastic facility. Thirty-six holes around here. It’s the first time that I’ve played here on The Pines course since the XSL tournament back in the 90s. It’s good that Peter and Adam have actually got on board with the pro-am here at Sanctuary Cove and putting a lot of effort back into the game. Adam’s a fantastic bloke and everyone knows Peter and the effort that he has put into the Australian Legends Tour and continues to do so.”
Our Members enjoyed a superb day with the PGA Professionals and the amateur winners were:
Men – Jared Martin with 39 points
Ladies – Chohee Park with 39 points
We would like to thank Adam Scott and Peter Senior for all their help in bringing this event to our Members. Congratulations to Paul McLean and his team for preparing a brilliant tournament golf course.
To the Golf Services and Food and Beverage teams, this event wouldn’t have been possible without all of your hard work.
We enjoyed a brilliant day at the Club and look forward to a bigger and better event in 2024.
