The 2023 Melbourne Cup race day saw the Club take our luncheon event to The Pines driving range for our very first marquee function at the Club. The event saw record numbers attend in what proved to be a resoundingly successful affair with everyone enjoying a fantastic day on the lawn. Guests indulged in a sumptuous seafood buffet with an array of hot and cold dishes and decadent desserts, Pommery champagne on arrival in our outdoor marquee bar, and all the racing action live on the big screen alongside sweepstakes.
With all guests dressed in their very best racewear, bright colours filled the marquee and made for a difficult decision when judging the fashions on the field. A big congratulations to our best dressed for the day, Darren Partridge and Fiona Armstrong.
The party continued well into the evening with live entertainment from Club favourites, The Accidents, performing after the race for our Melbourne Cup afterparty hosted on Lakeview Terrace. A special thank you again this year to Mrs Susan McLean who worked tirelessly on the beautiful trophy floral centrepieces and to Mr Peter Spencer for his MC efforts for both the Melbourne Cup Calcutta and our marquee lunch.
