Northstar Software Transition

As you are aware, Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club has recently transitioned to Northstar software.

Member Statements
Regarding your August activity statement, please be aware that these do not currently reflect your Club Credit activity. While we regret to inform you that there is no immediate solution for this issue, our software developers are actively working towards a resolution.

This information is available however, on the SCGCC app under “Recent Charges” and scroll down to your “Credit Book” to view the remaining balance of your Competition Prizes and Club Credit.

Competition Prizes
To simplify Member accounts, we are working on processing Competition Prizes directly to a Member’s charge account instead of to a separate Member Competition Prize account. We expect to have this rectified in the near future. In the meanwhile, we will be transferring Member’s competition prize balances manually at the end of the month to offset any expenditure incurred by Members throughout September.

Member Support
Our dedicated staff members have undergone extensive training in adapting to the Northstar system, and we are genuinely grateful for your support during this transitional phase. We kindly request that Members show understanding and respect towards our staff as they manage the above items and other software-related changes.

Should you encounter any problems please email info@scgcc.com.au, add Northstar as the email subject and provide a brief summary of the issue, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Tuesday 12 September marked Thank a Superintendent Day, and on this occasion, Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club extends its heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated Golf Course Superintendent, Paul McLean, along with our invaluable Assistant Superintendents, Trevor Ridge (The Pines) and Andrew Lothian (The Palms). We deeply appreciate their unwavering commitment to maintaining the pristine condition of both The Pines and The Palms golf courses as well as the gardens surrounding the clubhouse.

Paul, Trevor, and Andrew, your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed. Thank you for your outstanding contributions.

Sanctuary Cove v Indooroopilly Ladies’ Interclub Challenge

Monday 11 September saw 42 ladies travel to Indooroopilly for the Annual Sanctuary Cove v Indooroopilly Interclub challenge. Sanctuary Cove were victorious on the day with a 7-point win over the home team with our leading teaming of Bimla Naidoo and Linda Smith firing a great score of 45 points in a 4BBB Stableford format.

We would like to thank Indooroopilly for welcoming us for the day and we look forward to holding onto the trophy in 2024 here at Sanctuary Cove. To view images from the day, click here.

Ladies’ Invitation Day – Thursday 7 September 2023

On Thursday 7 September 2023, the Club hosted 102 Sanctuary Cove Ladies and their invited guests for the second Ladies’ Invitation day for 2023. Guests from 18 various golf clubs across Australia joined us for a beautiful fun-filled day as they played the Pines golf course. Following golf, the ladies enjoyed a deliciously prepared lunch buffet, followed by presentations, prizes and raffles.

A big thank you to all those who so generously donated and contributed to the $2,718.30 that was raised for The White Shadow Foundation through the raffle and also with the assistance of PGA Associate Jordan Hampson on course.

Congratulations to our winners of the best 2 of 4 Stapleford competitions for the day – Joanne Park, Akemi Matsukubo, Yoo Sun Grim and Miram Kim with a score of 96 points.  A special mention to the runners-up – Faye Williams, Margie Kilmartin, Margie Hay and Millie Coorey with a score of 94 points.

Men’s Senior Pennant Final

The Men’s Senior Pennant team played in the final against Burleigh Golf Club on Monday 11 September at Palmer Colonial.

The team was off to a slow start and were down in 4 of the 6 matches after 9 holes. The team showed great resilience to fight back on the back 9 and give themselves a great chance to take home the 2023 Pennant.

Wins to Warwick Carter and Paul Kernaghan saw the score at 3-2 and it all came down to Paul Blake winning his match to send the final to a sudden death playoff. Paul Blake was clutch under pressure holing a lengthy putt to send the final to extra holes. Unfortunately, the playoff didn’t go in the team’s favour and were runners up for 2023.

Congratulations to all the men who represented the Club this year:

Paul Blake
Marshall Leigh
Warwick Carter
Bill Bell
Steve Allerton
Greg Ritchie
Paul Kernaghan
Gary Simmons

Oliver’s Taranga – An afternoon with Corrina Wright Thursday 21 September 2023

Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club is thrilled to announce a special visit from Corrina Wright, representing Oliver’s Taranga Vineyards. With a remarkable 182-year heritage in grape growing, Corrina is a true wine enthusiast, hailed as a “legend in the making” by WBM Magazine and recognized by James Halliday as an integral part of a “remarkable dynasty.” She’s charting a unique path amidst the vines originally planted by her ancestors in the Seaview sub-region of McLaren Vale.

The Oliver family, spanning six generations of determined and competitive growers, alongside an equally passionate winemaker, call McLaren Vale their home. They excel in cultivating exceptional fruit on their 100-hectare ‘Taranga’ estate, producing a collection of meticulously crafted, small-batch wines that eloquently reflect both the grape variety and vintage. These wines capture the essence of a specific time and place while preserving the family’s enduring 182-year connection to the land.

On Thursday 21 September, the Club is set to host an exclusive wine tasting event, complete with delectable light canapés and the opportunity to engage with Corrina. This limited-seating experience is a rare privilege, and reservations are essential. As part of our commitment to responsible alcohol service, each pour will be strictly limited to 20ml, showcasing a curated selection of seven exceptional wines from Taranga Vineyards.

For those unable to join us on Thursday 21 September, the Club is pleased to be able to offer all Members the opportunity to order the wines on offer at exclusive Club pricing. To place an order, please click here.
