Ambrose
This event can be played as a two or four player event, although the four-player event is the most popular. Each player plays a tee shot at each hole. The captain then selects the best drive. The other members retrieve their balls and in turn place (on fairway) or drop (in rough or hazards) within one club-length of the selected position and all play their second shots. This procedure of selecting the best position continues until a ball is holed. When on the green, balls are placed on the selected spot.

Two player event – ¼ of aggregate stroke handicap; Four player event – ⅛ of stroke handicap.

Two player event – 6 drives of both players at least must be used. Four player event – 3 drives of each player must be used.

Canadian Foursomes
This event is for 2 players and played as per a normal foursome’s event except that both players play tee shots at every hole and afterwards continue with whichever ball they nominate, with the partner playing the second stroke and both players playing alternate shots until the ball is holed. Handicap allowance is ⅜ of aggregate stroke handicap. No limit on the drives taken.

American Foursomes
A two-ball event. Both players play tee shots at each hole, then play a second stroke with their partner’s ball. One ball is then selected and play proceeds as in foursomes, so that if Player B hit the second shot with the selected ball, Player A hits the next shot and play alternates until the hole is completed. Handicap allowance is ⅜ of aggregate handicap.

Modified Lone Ranger
A four-player team event. On each hole, one player in each foursome is designated the “lone ranger.” That designation rotates throughout the round; for example, Player A has it on the first hole, B on the second, C on the third, D on the fourth, then back to A on the fifth and so on. For a shotgun start Player A is still the Lone Ranger on holes 1, 5, 9, 13 and 17 on the course no matter which hole the group starts on. In Lone Ranger, three scores per hole are added together for the team score. One of those three scores must be from the Lone Ranger. So on each hole, the team score will be the score of the player designated the Lone Ranger, plus the best two scores of the other three players on the team.

Florida Ambrose
A four-player team event. Each player plays a tee shot at each hole. The captain then selects the best drive. The player with the selected shot does NOT play the next shot. The other members retrieve their balls and in turn place (on fairway) or drop (in rough or hazards) within one club-length of the selected position and the three members play their second shots. This procedure of selecting the best position (with the player whose ball is chosen not playing the next shot) continues until a ball is holed. When on the green, balls are placed on the selected spot.

Two player event – ¼ of aggregate stroke handicap; Four player event – ⅛ of stroke handicap.

No limit on how many drives of each player are used.

2-3-4 Stableford
A four-player team event. Each player plays the whole round as a stableford event. Team scoring is based on the par of the hole. On par 5s only the highest two scores count; on par 4s, the highest 3 scores count and on par 3s all scores count. The winning team has the highest aggregate score.

Team Multiplication Stableford
A four-player team event. Each player plays the whole round as a stableford event. Team scoring is based on using the best three (3) scores of the team. The total score for each hole is the 2 best scores added together and MULTIPLIED by the 3rd best score. So, if the 3rd best score is 0 the team score for the hole is 0.

Irish Four Ball Stableford
A four-player team event. Each player plays the whole round as a stableford event. Team scoring is based on the hole being played. With a shotgun start, on the first hole played only the highest score counts on the 2nd hole, the 2 highest scores count and on the 3rd hole played the 3 highest scores count. The 4th hole reverts to 1 score counting and so on. The winning team has the highest aggregate score.

Texas Scramble (Ambrose)
A four-player team event. Each player tees off on all par 4s and par 5s. The captain chooses the best drive, and all other players play the rest of the hole from that point. Each player must have 3 drives used. Each player plays their own ball for the entire hole on the par 3s. The team score is the aggregate of the best 3 stableford scores on each hole.

Mixed Winter Challenge Cup
This event is for mixed couples held over the winter months (June – August) and consists of six (6) rounds. For the first five (5) rounds the winning team of the day (consisting of two individual couples) and the team running second, will qualify for the final. If any of the four couples have already qualified, the team comprising two couples, running third on the day, will qualify for the final.

The last round (final) will be a 4BBB Stableford with each qualified couple playing as a team. The highest score of all qualified couples will win the Mixed Winter Challenge Cup.

The Tonto – Champion of the Lone Ranger
The event takes place as a Qualifying Round, two Semi-finals and the Final.

The Qualifying Round is a normal ‘Modified Lone Ranger’. The 4 highest scoring teams reach the Semi-final. The Semi-finals are match play. Team 1 plays Team 4 and Team 2 plays Team 3. Each match plays the modified 18th hole. A player is randomly drawn from each team to represent the team in the semi-final; the hole is played and the winning team reaches the final. If the hole is halved the higher rated team goes to the final.

The Final is match play. The two qualifying teams select a player to represent them in the final but that player cannot have played the semi-final. The modified 18th hole is played.

If the hole is halved it is played again with new selected players representing each team. This continues until a result is reached and the winning team is declared the Tonto Champions.

A player’s handicap strokes for the hole are for the 18th hole for both men and ladies.
