2023 has begun on a high with 125 Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club ladies joining together for the start of what looks to be another very successful year ahead for golf. Thank you to our new Captain and Vice-Captain of Ladies’ Golf, Libby Shakespeare and Jane Mullings, respectively, for their dedication in organising a wonderful day. Congratulations to all the winners of the day with special mention to Division 2 winners Debbie Ray, Janice Wright, Robyn McDonald and Jane Mullings who finished with a score of 58.375 nett holding out runners-up Judy Coote, Angela Foley, Louise Cole and Tracey Lowe on a score of 60.625 nett. Division 1 saw Coleen Moule, Gail Chell, Keiko Ishi and Louise Wolbers win with a score of 58.875 nett with the runners-up team of Marion Coy, Kylie Wharington, Chris Lynam and Laura Liebenau finishing the day with a score of 59.75 nett. Welcome Sophie Lyon The Club would like to welcome Sophie Lyon who commenced employment in the Food and Beverage Department this week. Sophie joins us from her most recent role as a food and beverage and drinks cart attendant at The Grand golf course. Sophie is currently undertaking study at Griffith University in biomedical science and also has a passion for gymnastics training. Please join us in welcoming Sophie to the Club.
The Club is looking for Members interested in representing the Club in GCDGA Division 1 pennant which begins on 19 February 2023 and runs until 2 April 2023.
Any golfers with a handicap of 3.4 or less, please register your interest by putting your name on the sign-up sheet on the golf shop noticeboard. Click here to view the draw.
The Club would like to thank those Members who have paid their subscriptions for 2023. A reminder that the membership subscriptions for 2023 were required to be paid by 29 December 2022. Members who haven’t paid their fees, please contact the Club to make payment at your earliest convenience to avoid late fees and other consequences as set out in the Club By-Laws.
Members with a direct debit arrangement with the Club, as well as Members who have paid their 2023 membership subscriptions, are now invited to collect their 2023 buggy stickers from Member Services Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, excluding public holidays.
As of Sunday 1 January 2023, all Members must display a 2023 buggy sticker on their buggy when accessing the golf courses.
The weekly Members’ Sunday Night Roast is held on Sunday evenings from 5:30pm.
The roast is $35 per person and includes a soup, a selection of traditional roast meats and vegetables and dessert.
Places are strictly limited, to avoid disappointment please book by phoning 07 5699 9000.
The Weekly Members’ Draw will be drawn at 6:30pm. The Member drawn in the last Members’ Draw was Mrs Brenda Malone. Mrs Malone was not present, therefore the amount has jackpotted to $1,500 Club Credit with one chance to win.

Clinic Overview
Week One
Basics to start golf – grip, weight setup, swing-balance-finish.
Week Two
Short game – introduction to chipping, bunkers and recovery shots.
Week Three
A brief outline of rules and golf etiquette plus Putting and learning how to read greens and control speed.
Week Four
Playing golf on the practice holes and applying the concepts that were taught in week one and week two.
This will not be a pressured environment, it is simply to give students an idea of golf basics plus course sense and safety.
If you don’t have golf clubs, this is not a problem as we can supply them for you.
